a tiny bit of singapore

Teeheehee. Happy new year! Yay. New post. Lol. Anyways, this little bit would be on what we did whilst I was in Singapore. Oh ya, did I mention that I'm home home home? And that I didn't know that whilst I was away that my parents renovated the house? -_-"

I came back and my house looked totally different. What they did really changed the whole look of the house. But wah.. I like it.

This is Mark. We were walking around Ngee Ann City (one of Singapore's malls). He noticed something on the lion that many people might not. You know, I never knew that they actually put those things on them lions.

In Singapore, we walk a lot. We walk everywhere. Simply because we can. And also sometimes because we're too cheap. It's great that there are sidewalks anywhere you go in Singapore. I think if you added the number of steps I took whilst I was in Singapore, you could have measured that I walked all across Singapore and back, several times. :P

One night, on our way home from our excursions, we saw this notice that was posted at a bus stop:

I wonder if they got in trouble with the police for posting that up.

Whilst in Singapore, we also went to the Science Centre. BIG MISTAKE. Total waste of time and money. The place was ill maintained and mostly for kids. Hahaha! Mark and I thought that it would be fun.. but it turned out to be the total opposite. And that was because we remembered it as a fun place with tonnes to see and do.. but the last time we both ever went there was when we were little. Maybe there really was more to see back then actually. Cos I remember doing loads of stuff there. But now most of the things are not working anymore. Pfft!! So.. remember.. do not bother going there unless you just want to take dumb pictures:

It's very stuffed up inside, so you know.. I just thought I would help out. So helpful lah me. You can call me also if you have any problems like this. I'm very good at it, apparently.

The anatomy of Mark. So funny, right?? That's what's going on with Mark's digestive system. Bwahahahahahahaha. Aaaaaaahhh! I'm so gross. Hahaha. But it's so interesting. That's exactly what Mark's insides look like!

DON'T GO TO THE SCIENCE CENTRE.

i don't like sweating

With nothing much to do here in Seremban, I might actually be blogging more. But subject to if I have enough privacy to do so once EVERYONE arrives. Right now, there is only 6 of us staying in the house. But once everyone gets here, we would probably reach a total of 18. I wonder how our sleeping arrangements might turn out to be. Funny leh if someone had to sleep on the kitchen island, the bar counter, the picnic table outside the house. I mean, it's funny as long as it isn't me. :P

You know, I honestly think that Miri is still cooler than Seremban. Over here it's HOT HOT HOT. Probably cos there are no trees here. Not to say that there aren't any trees - at all. But there is a lack of them. I went to town yesterday afternoon, and there were absolutely no trees around. It was so fucking hot. Along the main roads pun sikda. Kat rumah pun sikda. Ada pun nya kecik gila. Itu pun they are not the kind that would grow to be big and wide and leafy and provide shade. The only big trees that I see around here are part of the jungle. Far away from civilisation. Even my uncle is like, the MPS (Majlis Perbandaran Seremban) is crazy cos they cut all the trees near town down. No wonder so blardy hot.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MIMIN! [Link]
21 years old liaw. Make sure mommy and daddy gets you nice jewellry, okay? Make sure you get a diamond encrusted key pendant. It's tradition for 21 year old girls to receive a key on her 21st birthday, isn't it? Meaning that she's now independant. Free from her parents. Teehee. I highly doubt that that would happen when I turn 21 though. Bah. Have a great birthday. ;)

status report

I'm here to report that I'm in Seremban and no longer in Singapore. Took a train up from Singapore yesterday. Which took 6 hours before we arrived at our correct station. I've decided that I very much prefer 6 hours of walking to 6 hours of sitting down and doing nothing! I'm kinda amazed that I didn't go crazy and started running up and down the aisles of the train for having to sit down for such a long time. But of course, I was squirming here and there every few seconds. Haha.

I felt something whilst riding the train up here and passing through towns and stuff. I felt disappointed. Everywhere you look there's garbage littering the roads and the drains! You see ill maintained roads and buildings with plants that are starting to grow over them. It seems that the mentality of Malaysians is that someone else will pick up after you. Malaysians are irresponsible. Malaysians are selfish. Malaysians are dirty. I don't know for sure. Maybe the situation improves where the place is more developed? As in, in cities?

One just can't help but notice after staying in Singapore for weeks. Even when I went up to Johor for a day trip from Singapore, I felt stifled. Maybe it was just bad luck but we were stuck in a jam for more or less half an hour. Probably more. The place was dirty, the plants by the side of the road were dying, people didn't bother using the sidewalks, instead they walk along the sides of the street. Like, wtf man. Aiyoh, I banyak harap that Miri won't turn out to be so bad just because we're a part of Malaysia as well.

Singapore seems to be a city filled by perfectionists. Either that, or the kiasu culture really does exist and everyone is only trying to outdo each other. But they are damn efficient wei. Not to mention its so clean there. It's amazing. Yeah, I'm already just taken by their cleanliness. Haha. Oh well.

Happy Valentine's day, everyone. And if you just happen to be able to spend your day with someone special. Your friends, your boyfriend/girlfriend and what not.. lucky you. Haha. I'm actually neither anti-vday or pro-vday. But whatever, I still want to share this lovely sappy song just because today is the day you are allowed to be horribly sappy and then you get to blame it on your bf/gf for making you that way because if you weren't they will merajuk like hell so you decided that you didn't want to go through all that stress.. you conformed.

Doesn't that make you sound like such a pushover or what?

All my love is all I have

from singapore, with love

(All pictures are taken using my lousy Nokia 6233 :P )
The Singapore "Chingay" Parade is coming soon. On the 23rd of February, actually. Sounded like a lot of fun, but unfortunately, I won't be in Singapore anymore. I first found out about it as I was walking along Orchard Road and saw one of these things that they've been putting up on the sidewalk. On it, it says, Chingay Parade - Parade of Dreams. My first thought was that it was a Gay Pride parade! Because Chin Gay.. in Hokkien is like.. so gay. So... so gay parade lah. Plus, it's catch phrase.. or its tagline.. is gay.

Well. Just one of the interesting things you see in a window whilst shopping in Singapore.

PIES PIES PIES. ^_^

In a shopping mall, a lady with a harp, playing CNY songs.

2 cm shop assistant wanted.

One of the coolest bookstores ever. See how the bookshelves all slant to one side or another. The pillar is also slanted, btw. And so was the floor! And in the bookstore itself was an exhibition of art from tonnes of artists from different places. And they sell tonnes of books on design, art, photography, architecture, photography, animation, etc! So much fun. Eeeps. But they also have the normal magazines, novels, textbooks, etc. But I didn't have time for those. Was too busy flipping through those books on design. Yum!

Yip!

Random sculptures around the city. This one is wearing my brothers hat.

We went to eat at Marce! Totally yum. But still totally overpriced.

Such colourful art from Spain. I would LOVE to have these in my home.

Also, it's very windy up on the 19th floor. Just look at my *ahem* shampoo commercial hair. LOL. I swear. Homeless people who bunk outside on the balcony would freeze to death. :D
That's all for now. Will be leaving Singapore on the 13th. Amazing. By the time I leave, I would've spent t.h.r.e.e. weeks in Singapore! Taa.

apple is turning us into clones

I just watched a "movie" (go watch it too but it's close to 2 hours long so make sure you have nothing to do, have a drink and some snacks nearby, and don't forget to go to the loo beforehand) where I was supremely brainwashed into WANTING the AppleTV and the iPhone and maybe a Mac laptop too. What the heck.

*mweeps*

And the iPhone isn't even gonna come out in Asia till 2008.

Okay.. calculate.. calculate.. 8 gig iPhone = 600USD.
Times... 3.5? (Guessing) Equals to.. RM2100.
365 days in a year... but minus one month cos January is long gone.
So it's.. 365 - 31 = 334 days left.
2100/334 = 6.28 ringgit ≈ 6 ringgit.

I HAVE TO SAVE AT LEAST 6 RINGGIT A DAY TO BUY THAT THING.

Bah. =(

How about settling for less? A 4 gig iPhone?
4 gig iPhone = 500USD.
500 x 3.5 = RM1750.
Hmm... 1750/334 = 5.23 ringgit ≈ 5 ringgit.

STILL! I HAVE TO SAVE AT LEAST 5 RINGGIT PER DAY TO BUY THAT THING.

What if I don't want their 2 MP camera? Maybe they could lessen the price then? Teehee?

i was in KL!

On the bus in KL after getting off the plane.

Was about time I was getting out of Miri! Was travelling together with the brother, the cousin, the grandma, and the boyfriend. Our flight was to KL. T'was my first time flying via AirAsia. It was okay. I was sort of expecting the worst. Being seperated from the rest of my family, being stuck having to sit with some fat smelly bastard with air sickness. Then having my baggage lost, or coming back somehow getting soaked in fuel and then I would have to watch it coming down the luggage belt in flames. But fortunately, none of that happened. Our flight took off almost on time, we landed, almost on time. None of our luggage was lost, and we had family to pick us up from the airport.

Waiting out the rain.

We stayed in KL for a few days before we going down to Singapore via Aeroline Bus. But for the few days we were in KL, we managed to get caught in KL's fat, chubby rain, had the liberty of being overcharged for taking a taxi, and helped Mark to buy a PS2. Another thing I ought to mention was that, for some odd reason, we couldn't find any pirated games to buy while we were there. So, too late for came the day when we had to take the bus down to Singapore. But before I go there, some more pictures! WE WENT TO AQUARIA KLCC!

This little dude reminds me of Jabba the Hut!

This guy was massive! He was probably about the size of my foot.

Pretty spider!

UGLY ICKY LIZARD!!!!!!

Tunnel of fishes.

This turtle was so funny. He's the only turtle I've ever seen that has its flippers up on its back like that. Even after swimming, he'd return to this position.

The boys in the tunnel of luurrrve. Kekeke.

Me in the underwater tunnel. One good thing about being a tourist is taking touristy pictures of yourself. Hah!

Aaron paid to get a caricature of himself drawn.

The almost finished product.

Sweet?

Not so sweet.

Funny, hor?? I told the boys to go to the fish tank so that I could take pictures of their sillouettes and this was how they posed. Can you imagine, the people who was walking past behind me were all laughing at how funny they were acting. Hahaha. I'm glad that I got people to smile and laugh about it. :P

On the trip down to Singapore, I wasn't expecting the worst on the bus ride, in fact, I was expecting much better. But what I got was worse than I could have imagined. Everything about the bus was fine. EXCEPT the toilet. And that was because the toilet was... so small. Like, tiny. I had to back out of the toilet backwards to get out of it. Eesh. But what made it bad was the experience.

There was this whole deal with losing my brother's passport. Of course then everyone panicked, cos how is he gonna cross the border without his passport, right? Anyways, its a really bad experience which I don't want to go through ever again. Alas for you guys, you'll never get to hear that horrid tale. But all you need to know is that the tale has a happy ending where we finally found his passport, but by then, we had left my brother at the immigration place, so after arriving in Singapore, and after my aunt picked us up, we had to go back into Johor to pick him up again. Heh heh. Of course, my brother was pissed. Of course, the grandma complained and pointed fingers. Of course, the boyfriend came to the defense. Of course, the cousin stood to the side and kept as quiet as he could. Hmm. Looks like I basically told the whole tale already. =)
